About me

I am an NRCPD registered BSL/English interpreter with 30 years’ experience in a wide range of domains. I understand the challenges and pressures of life as an employee and as a freelancer, having been an in-house community interpreter with a local authority for 11 years prior to beginning my freelance career. I now work mainly with Deaf professionals in diverse roles, as well as having a particular interest in the arts. I am proud to be a member of our profession and am committed to its development.

I began to have supervision for myself initially to seek perspective and direction in my career and it has been transformative, enhancing every aspect of my practice. As interpreters we are used to communicating in the moment with those who use our services; we can be less used to taking a wider perspective which puts us in the picture too and considers the impact of these interactions on us and others. I am passionate about the benefits professional supervision can offer us as practitioners, at all stages of our careers, and the positive impact it has had personally led me to train with 360 Supervision, being awarded the Diploma in Supervision for Sign Language Interpreters and Allied Professionals in June 2022.

Supervision is dedicated time in which to explore anything relating to our work and it can be challenging as well as enlightening; key to its success is the relationship between supervisor and supervisee, which is why it is so important to find the right match for you. I offer a free first session as an opportunity to answer any questions you may have and discuss how supervision could benefit you in your practice.

We would collaborate to create a safe, calm, non-judgemental space in which you feel free to bring anything that matters to you regarding your work and through a dynamic conversation to help you make sense of those experiences. I have a particular interest in ensuring my supervision is accessible to neurodiverse individuals and am broadening my knowledge and communication styles. I would work creatively to find a style of supervision that is effective for you.
